Sapience Communications had the pleasure of attending Cass Innovate premier interdisciplinary event exploring ‘The Future is Now’.

The conference explored how rapidly developing technologies are changing the ways we work, create and do business, thus impacting the world we live in. Applied robotics, artificial intelligence and augmented reality – once the realm of science fiction – are now embedded in our daily lives. The day was led by a variety of workshops, interviews, panel discussions and talks on all things tech.

Tom Illube, founder and CEO of Crossword Cybersecurity, a technology company that works with Universities invested in cybersecurity research to bring their cutting-edge ideas into the commercial world, kicked off proceedings with an inspiring talk on the fourth industrial revolution.

Honoured for his services to Technology and Philanthropy he was awarded a CBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list in June 2018. Tom was also named as the most influential person of African and Caribbean heritage in the Powerlist 2017, and in the same year, Tom was appointed as a non-executive director of the BBC.

During his talk, he gave a broad overview of the tech landscape, categorising the four stages of the industrial revolution and expressed where he would visit if he had a time machine in order to see what impact tech was having on society at the time and why now we are possibly in the most exciting stage of all.

Bringing together academics, practitioners and students, ‘The Future is Now’, presented the best innovation practices, successful entrepreneurship stories, social enterprise, technology and leading research in one conference.

Our key speciality is working with companies that use pioneering technologies to shape the future of their industries – from AI and machine learning to blockchain innovations.
